Jack G. Shirley, 42, died when a hoist truck overturned on a dirt road 14 miles southeast of here. Driver Truett Harrelson, 36, sustained facial cuts and stayed under observation. Shirley, thrown from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Funeral arrangements pending. survivors include his wife, a son Jessie and a daughter Judy. This marked the area’s 10th motor vehicle fatality on the South Plains for the year.

Detectives found the concealed body of 13 year old Billy Dean Nixon Friday. His 13 year old brother Kenneth Nixon confessed under questioning Tuesday, saying he killed Billy during an argument over a Bible. The body was wedged behind two small frame buildings behind the boys' North Side home.

Buffalo injures man near Lubbock during loading attempt
