A bandit robbed 21st Street Pharmacy of $165 in cash from a refrigerator safe while claiming to be a customer. Owner Mrs. Elizabeth W. Mattison, alone in the store near Methodist Hospital, secretly alerted a fellow pharmacist during the holdup. Police report links the suspect to the area as he fled in a red car. The incident disrupted a quiet Saturday evening at the drugstore.
Texas lawmakers convene for a four month session as power moves swirl around Speaker race. Gov. Connally backs Rep. Byron Tunnell with Barnes as rival, pledges flow from over 120 of 149 reps, and several candidates wobble amid allegations of a power grab.
