Consolidated Banking Regulation Urged By Proxmire
Sen. William Proxmire urged placing all bank regulation under a single federal agency after a GAO draft report cited widespread violations of lending and truth in lending rules by many banks. He warned current division among the Fed, FDIC, and Comptroller of the Currency leads to lax supervision and regulatory waste. Acting OCC head Robert Bloom said the GAO report supports ongoing self improvement efforts.

Crooked Line Costs Two Transport Workers Their Jobs
In Mercer County PennDOT fired Norvin Ferry and Raymond Raffle for painting a nine mile crooked line on Harmonsburg Road using 420 dollars worth of white paint. Ferry oversaw the operation and Raffle operated the spray gun during the Dec. 6 incident.
