Lee and Florence Rowe never gave up hope their son James Nicholas Rowe would reappear. An Army official notified them he was found by a South Vietnamese unit in the Mekong Delta and Nick Rowe called from a hospital soon after. Rowe, 31, was captured October 29, 1963 while a Special Forces adviser. He had been promoted to major, though his parents did not know. His fiancée, waiting in North Carolina, remarried in 1966 after 24% years with no word. Army notes say further debriefing awaited before he could return home near the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
