Gas Plant Blast Tears Through Yoakum Facility

A series of explosions and a flash fire at the Shell Oil Wasson Natural Gas Processing Plant No. 2 near Yoakum caused property damage estimated up to 32 million. The eight hour blaze damaged pumps and an ethane tower as workers were on lunch. No injuries were reported. Firefighters from multiple towns battled the flames until 3:50 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 8:30 p.m. Investigators planned to review the cause the next day.

Antelope Herd at V-8 Ranch Entertains Lubbock Residents

Southeast Lubbock residents can watch antelope grazing from their windows as a token herd of 52 pronghorn deer thrives at the V-8 Ranch in Yellowhouse Canyon.
