The Texas University Texas A&M permanent university fund withstood four hours of debate and 11 votes in the Texas Constitutional Convention keeping its status quo while challenges to the education committee recommendations on the 620 million fund are awaited. A Washington amendment allowing regents to allocate residue funds to other schools sparked an uproar and a tied vote that led to a roll call verification. See HOT Page 1.
Elvis Dean Geaslin, an 18 year old Paducah Texas native, was sentenced to life in prison for the bludgeon death of 69 year old Vivian Oviler in Deland Florida. A jury convicted him of the September 30 1973 murder after a four day trial.

They say they defected after the fatal Nov. 6 assassination and warn they face reprisals while criticizing the SLA’s use of violence. Federal officials had no comment on the letter’s validity.
