Dallas figure Jota McKee also known as James Zullinger, longtime watchdog of morals, faces a two count indictment for embezzling 6722.98 from Lee Lockwood of Waco. He eluded deputies as authorities issued a warrant and description of his luxury car. Bail set at 10000 dollars.

San Francisco Local 10 of the ILWU votes 1640 to 671 to accept an 18 month contract with the Pacific Maritime Association ending the 134 day West Coast dock strike. Local 34 Ship's Clerks Union also approves 473 to 273. Returns were nearly complete coastwide.
The California Supreme Court ruled capital punishment unconstitutional under the state constitution, commuting 102 men's and 5 women's death sentences to life. Governor Reagan criticized the decision, pledging a rehearing and possible constitutional amendment if rejected. The ruling cites dignity of man and notes more than 600 others remain condemned statewide.
U S planes and Navy bombers staged 139 strikes in South Vietnam from Khe Sanh to the A Shau Valley. In the central highlands two convoys of trucks and bicycles with about 600 enemy troops were attacked west of Kontum near Cambodia and Laos. Seven aircraft were lost over two days with six crewmen missing.
Three economists forecast unemployment will stay above 1971 projections. They propose a $100 rebate per taxpayer to stimulate demand. Arthur M. Okun of the Johnson era Council of Economic Advisers, Saul Hymans of Michigan, and Yale’s Henry C. Wallich advocate the proposal.
