Death of aquanaut ends bid to conquer deep sea
SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND Calif. Aquanaut Berry M Cannon 33 of Panama City Fla died of cardiac arrest while descending to 610 feet during Sealab I11 test. The death halted Sealab III and raised questions about deep dive risks as four divers were lowered in rapid compression to inspect a helium leak. Captain William M Nicholson said medical officers attributed the death to cardiac arrest during a deep dive and found diving gear operating normally.
