Tech appoints Thadis W. Box ICASALS director at ARID Center

Dr Thadis W Box named organizational director of the International Center for Arid and Semi Arid Land Studies at Tech with Dr Earl B Braly as assistant The ICASALS aims to coordinate arid land study and research and will house a library and a world class museum The center opens in the Agricultural Engineering Building next Friday and will involve the West Texas Museum Association The move comes as Gov Connally and lawmakers face a 788 million funding need for state colleges and universities with salaries and tuition under review.

Police Warn Over Stop Sign Thefts After Fatal Crash

A fatal two car crash at 45th Street and Orlando Avenue spurred a police warning on traffic sign thefts. Investigators say a missing stop sign may have contributed to the collision.
