Truck Driver Killed by Dynamite Near Van Horn

A pickup loaded with dynamite and caps exploded at a construction site 10 miles south of Van Horn injuring no one else. Wesley Logan, 51, of El Paso, was killed. Bill Draper, Van Horn funeral director, said the blast was the worst he had seen and parts of the truck were found up to a quarter mile away.

Five Die as Turnpike Pileup Near Polena Mountain

Five persons were killed and one injured when a five-vehicle crash occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Polena Mountain area. A passenger car, a loaded truck, a jeep and another car were involved near the Povonol Interchange. Names of victims and further details were not immediately available.
