The United States rejects France's account of the Mediter ranean flight incident involving a Soviet Leoni Brezhnev overflight. It calls for punishment of the French fliers, labeling the attack as international banditry by the French air force. France maintains its pilot did not fire.
Mrs Julia Price 42 of 1502 28th Streeter died after a two car collision at 23rd Street and Avenue N. The West Texas Hospital patient was thrown from her 1957 sedan when it hit a 192 model driven by Sidney Banks 17 of 2816 24th Street. Banks was uninjured. Price had lived in Lubbock 15 years and was active in business and the American Legion auxiliary. The crash was the citys third traffic fatality of the year with 17 deaths in 1980 mishaps overall.
