Hebrenwald Tennessee saw a five person family die in a blaze, Heimetta New Jersey reports four fatalities, Minnesota separate blazes killed five children, and Chicago South Side hotels suffered a deadly hotel fire with several victims and victims’ families describing screams and rescue ordeals. Investigators blamed a kerosene heater as a possible ignition source in Chicago.

Fire destroys Mexican Baptist Mission building

A fire at the Mexican Baptist Mission on 6th Street and Avenue J around 12 45 pm Sunday gutted the large frame structure. Firefighters fought the blaze for about an hour and five minutes, salvaging some literature but reporting total loss of equipment and furnishings. No injuries, though Fire Chief Gerrald Powell fell from a ladder but was unharmed.

Four Car Crash Leads To Melee Near Lea General Hospital

Four cars collided in rapid succession near Lea General Hospital on North Main Street followed by a fight involving 16 people. Francisco Perez, 20, of Denver City remained in critical condition with a stab wound. Filizaro Maldonado Valdez, of Bronco, suffered multiple broken ribs after being run over during the melee. Hospital attendants reported the other victims hospitalized with injuries from the incident.

Deep Jeep Aids Search For Missing Nuclear Bomb

In JALOMARES Spain the Deep Jeep underwater craft arrived to aid the two weeks long search for a missing nuclear bomb lying about 200 fathoms beneath the Mediterranean. The sub landed from a U.S. landing ship off shore and was lowered into the sea then taken out to sea under guard. The Alvin is expected to join soon, flown from the United States in sections to Rota, Spain, to be reassembled and sent to the area.
