Freights Derailed At Two South Plains Points
Two Santa Fe freight trains derailed within 30 minutes on the South Plains near Littlefield and Abernathy. A total of 37 cars piled up in accordion fashion delaying service and railway traffic. Buses evacuated 159 passengers from three trains to continue to their destinations.

Avalanches hit Roche Molle on the Italian French frontier killing four and leaving four missing with five injured. Eighteen of thirty homes in the hamlet were destroyed as border police and Alpine troops reached the scene after a two and a half hour trek. A separate avalanche near Mt Blanc Tunnel barracks left four workers unaccounted for with little chance of survival.

Mysterious Flying Objects Reported Across States
UPI reports sighting of flaming and blinking objects over West Virginia Massachusetts and Bedford Massachusetts on Sunday night. Radar did not detect the objects though witnesses described a blinking light moving in the sky. A Boston woman saw a blinking white light at about 8 p.m. CST and a West Virginia pair reported a flaming object bursting into two parts.

Denver City Residents Die in One-Car Crash
Two Denver City residents were killed and two others injured when their car left State Highway 83, struck an embankment, and rolled into a field. Victims are Clyde Gardner and M. Wisenbaker, 25. Injured are Eugene R. Danson, 43, and his wife Faye, 41, hospitalized with serious injuries. The wreck occurred about 74 miles west of here. Wisenbaker was a former Texas Tech student. Funeral arrangements noted for Robert a Massie Funeral Home in San Antonio.

Plane crash on mountainside saves three near Alamosa
