Wreck Kills Former Lamesa Resident Alvin R Smith

Former Lamesa resident Alvin Roy Smith, 35, of Seminole, died in a car truck crash about 1 mile northwest of Lamesa Monday afternoon. The collision near FM 1064 and FM 829 involved Mike Story of Midland. Smith’s car slid under a trailer as the truck turned. Smith’s death marked the ninth traffic fatality on the South Plains this year. services are planned Wednesday at 2:30 pm with Rev. Gene Haskins officiating. Burial will be in Lamesa Memory Park.
