Texan Crowned 1973 Maid of Cotton in Memphis

Debbie Wright of Tahoka Texas won the 1973 Maid of Cotton title in Memphis after defeating 17 entrants. Second alternate Vivian Craig of Stanley North Carolina, and Miss Plod of Cedar Hill Texas faltered during her final speech but recovered with crowd support as the crowd cheered.

Cotton Bowl Parade Highlights Beauty Queens and Bands

The annual Cotton Bowl parade features University entries from Texas and Alabama with a New World of Cotton float by the Texde Cotton Gin fete Association. Tara Sheldon of Washington DC will crown the Dallas City landmark, Austin Gin Queen and a University of Texas contingent join the festivities with many bands and Kiwil horses providing spectacle along the parade route.
