Meat Shortage Likely In 1951

Western Cotton Oil to Expand in Lubbock

Western Cotton Oil company plans a new cotton oil mill in Lubbock starting January. The plant will be built and operated by the Anderson-Clayton & Co. subsidiary on a 440 acre site south of Fiftieth Street near the Slaton highway, formerly a private airfield. Woman stabbed at Playmor dance hall in Lubbock

Mrs. M. M. Lancaster, 29, of 316 Temple, was stabbed in the abdomen at about 11 p m Saturday in the Playmor dance hall. The six inch knife blade found at the scene was lodged in her abdomen. She was taken to Lubbock Memorial hospital where staff said her condition was not serious. Police questioned her husband and several others but have not formed a clear picture of the incident.

Girl Is Injured In Yoakum Crash

A 23 year old West Texas State student from Rule was in serious condition after a Friday night crash in Yoakum county. Martha Nell Norman suffered a brain concussion and other injuries and was in convulsions. The car overturned on a caliche cutoff road near U.S. 380 and State 214, all six occupants thrown out. Robert Pace and two others were treated and released. Kay McInturff remained hospitalized in serious but not critical condition.

Total corporate city population likely above 72 000 with several thousand new phones added in 1950.
