Relativity Test May Finally Probe Einstein Theory
MIT scientist Irwin I. Shapiro proposes a 1960s radar experiment to test general relativity by bouncing signals 160 million miles to Venus or Mercury. Using Haystack’s high power radar and precision timing, the test could confirm if gravity alters light speed as Einstein predicted, with results possibly by mid-1960s.
