Drop Project Star Keeps Coming Back To Tucson
Jule McCardella persistently pursued a Christmas star project in Tucson despite repeated failures. After earlier ribs from a broken 12-foot star, a weather balloon, and subsequent shots, he rebuilt a 12 foot star with balloon support and pipe posts. Four launches failed before a gust toppled the structure, yet he kept hope of a win in local decoration contests. The effort earned a $25 prize before the star collapsed in the wind.
