Winter storm bogs East. travelers stranded over two feet of snow

A major winter storm swept the Atlantic coast delaying travel with up to two feet of snow in New England and winds to 50 mph. Flooding and power outages were reported as the system moved east, while another front threatened the South and Plains with snow and colder weather.

Two Die In Separate Plains County Crashes

Two Plains men died and a Kansas woman was critically injured in separate Friday crashes, raising the South Plains holiday death toll to five and the annual total to 126. David Marion Jones, 46, of Swisher County, died when his front end loader overturned after colliding with a Vernon Plett station wagon north of Kress on Interstate 27. Plett, 33, of Newton, Kan., was seriously hurt. his wife was listed in very critical condition at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. Jones lived south of the crash. services are pending at Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview. He is survived by his wife Thelma, four daughters, three sons, and three brothers.
