Soul City dream moves toward reality in North Carolina

Oregon Scout Troop Brings Inmates and Boys Together

In Salem Oregon a 15 member Cub Scout Den 355 meets twice monthly with inmates from the Oregon Correctional Institution and residents of Fairview Hospital and Training Center. Leader Father Neumann, serving 10 years for manslaughter, and assistant Moffett, serving three years for larceny, guide activities as inmates act as substitute fathers. The program pairs inmates with Cub Scouts aged 10 to 14 to play games, craft, and plan trips, including supervised outside camping.
