Farmers To Boost Hog Production
Washington AP reports that hog farmers will raise production this winter at a slower pace than in 1976. Projections show 6.1 million sows giving birth Dec 1 to May 40, a 5 percent rise, yielding about 44.3 million pigs. Hog and pig inventories on Dec 1 are estimated at 55.1 million head, with eight million for breeding and 47.1 million for market, up from a year ago.
