Four Russian intellectuals convicted of treason in Leningrad

Four Russian intellectuals were convicted in Leningrad of conspiring to overthrow the Soviet regime. They received prison terms up to 15 years after arms caches were found by secret police last March. One defendant, Professor Ogurtsov, was sentenced to 15 years, Eugen Vagin to 13 years, with two others getting 13 and eight years respectively. The trial concluded weeks ago in Leningrad, the USSR’s largest city after Moscow.
