A Duluth family of six dies when an oil burner explodes at 6 a.m. after they finished wrapping gifts and slept in a modest two story home. Mrs. William Clark 33 dies while saving her daughters Shirley and Claud and Gloria 16 with her husband and mother in law also lost. Broke Hungry Teacher Held In Burglary

A junior high school teacher, Frank Robert Dyleski 33, broke into a drug store to steal food for his hungry family. He hid in a refrigerator when arrested after four officers responded to an alarm. He taught at W. C. Stripling Junior High, and his principal called him popular and commendable despite money troubles.

Six Escape Texas Jail

Six prisoners escaped from the Williamson County jail near Groesbeck Texas after slugging the jailer and stealing a car. They abducted Renee Adkins and his wife, took more than 100 dollars, then fled in a green and white 1956 Chevrolet. The men, some transferred from Bell County, abandoned another car and left the area after a violent breakout. The jailed guard, Clarence Wade, was wounded and hospitalized.

Milford Bank Robbery Leads to Suspect Capture

A Negro bandit robbed the First National Bank of Milford of about 3000 dollars Friday and a suspect fitting the description was nabbed at a roadblock about an hour later. Sheriff Burl White of Waxahachie took the man to Milford for bank officials to identify him. No money was recovered at once.

Youth Racing To Get Yule Mail Struck By Car

A 9 year old boy, James W T Harris, was struck and killed while racing to a mailbox near Union west of Slaton at noon Friday. His sister Mary Ruth Lee, 16, watched as the car approached and the driver was identified as Kelly Dorsett Jr., 28, of Lubbock. A second two car collision on the same highway injured four others later in the day. The death raises South Plains toll to 109 for the year, with authorities noting caution in the holiday period. The boy's family had recently moved from Lubbock and planned to buy turkeys for a Christmas shopping trip.

Outside City Water Probe Intensified Over Unauthorized Meter
