Viet Cong act sparks city alert in Saigon

Viet Cong terrorists, including a 15 year old, threw grenades at national police wounding three as Saigon braces for a major bombing on the eve of the National Liberation Fronts fifth anniversary. Barricades rise around the U S Embassy and bachelor officers quarters. A teen suspect surrendered after a second grenade misfired. In nearby action Marines and Army units fought Communist forces with near 200 killed and ground advances near Saigon accompanied by heavy shelling.

Deaf Genius Found In Retarded School By Prose Internation

A 17 year old boy labeled mentally retarded spent 12 years in Enid Oklahoma state school care before doctors found he is deaf not mentally deficient. He will enter a school for the deaf at primer level after transfer to Hissom Memorial Center seeking remedial education.

US Troops Quell Strife In Santiago

Six helicopter loads of American paratroops ended a clash in Santiago between Caamano loyalists and Dominican air force troops armed with tanks and guns. Twenty six Dominicans died, with reports up to 40. Americans rescued 15 held at the Matun Hotel. Caamano, not injured, was to meet provisional President Garcia Godoy.
