A rhesus monkey named Seatback with a radio transmitter and medical instruments was launched into space from Cape Canaveral and traveled about 600 miles before landing in the South Atlantic Ocean. Man Injured In Crossing Crash Near Lubbock
Don Murphy Lang 28 of Rt Lubbock sustained injuries in a pickup truck freight train collision 1.8 miles west of the city on a paved farm to market road at 8 50 p m Tuesday. Lang was to be admitted to Methodist Hospital and treated in the emergency room. The driver and Tang were westbound when their vehicle came into front of the Santa Fe freight train moving toward Lubbock at 1 mph. Lang was pinned for about 20 minutes before rescue by a Rix Funeral Home ambulance. The train engineer was Neilon Skiton and conductor Wo O Clark of 226 19th St Lubbock.
