Baby girl lone survivor in Arizona train crash

Twelve of thirteen people in a Phoenix car died when it collided with the Southern Pacific Golden State Limited train at a level crossing. The sole survivor, an 18 month old girl, was in critical condition with a skull fracture. Nine of the dead were one family. all victims were Phoenix residents. The crash occurred near midnight as the car and train collided, with bodies scattered along a gulch. The train crew reported sighting wreckage and the incident marked the worst such accident in state records.
