Price Commission Halts Cost Spiral on Health Fees

The Price Commission announced controls on doctors fees and hospital rates to curb rising health care costs. Physicians, dentists, labs and care facilities may raise prices an average 2.3 percent with justification. Institutional care may rise 25 percent for higher costs but 2.5 to 6 percent require IRS and Medicare reporting. over 6 percent needs IRS or commission approval. Cuban gunboat attacks Miami freighter in Bahama Waters

The Cuban gunboat attacked the Panama registered Johnny Express about 109 miles off Nassau's eastern coast and rammed and strafed the freighter injuring the captain and two crewmen. Coast Guard said the vessel was operated by Bahama Lines of Miami and owned by Cuban exile brothers. The Cuban government denied wrongdoing.
