United Nations General Assembly committee approves a plan for a global hostage taking treaty. West Germany and 37 co sponsors back a panel to draft a treaty to prevent hostage taking and to punish offenders. The move breaks a long stalemate and aims for a draft by 1977 with broader approval possible in 1978.
Two former Fort Sill soldiers Larry J. Ross and Selwyn Gholson were sentenced to die in the electric chair by January 31 1977 for the September 1974 murder of Texas state trooper Hollie Tull after a bank robbery attempt. Attorneys planned an appeal to the U S Supreme Court for a stay, with NAACP involvement.
The Transit Advisory Board will hear a noon report on operation of the new buses and routes at city hall. Ernie Prenevost will discuss problems from the first week and Phil Price will review the marketing program. The board will also consider Grumman Industries liability for late buses and a three year extension of a bus bench contract with Adams Advertising.
