One Dead Ten Hurt In Mishaps On Icy South Plains Roads
A Lamesa man was killed and 19 others injured in multiple Friday crashes as icy conditions gripped the South Plains. Genara Florez Florez, 38, of Lamesa, died in a four-vehicle collision. Four others were seriously hurt including Simon Trevino Vasquez, 29, with a broken leg and head injuries. A 12-year-old Lubbock youth was struck by a car while sledding. The Barron car driver John Neeley Barron Jr, 18, of Lamesa was reported in good condition. Authorities said road shoulders were slippery and traffic was halted for over 30 minutes.
