One Meter Electric Rate Plan Rejected by City Panel

A split vote by the Electric Utilities Board rejected a proposal by developers Ken Flagg and Kenny Huneke for a one meter electric rate plan intended to avoid two and three meters on single family homes. The plan would add a low rate for high consumption electric heaters while preserving present rates, but required new billing programming and was opposed by the city council. The board also received a study indicating $151 million in needed generation and transmission facilities over five years with financing methods under review.
