After talks with a Slaton delegation Rep George Mahon criticized the Labor Department for unilateral action on the bracero program at Slaton. He demanded exact language authorizing any unilateral action and noted no Mexican complaint had been filed. A delegation from Lubbock County Farm Bureau met Mahon to press for Slaton to withdraw the demand.
Needy families list grows at over 100 per day for Lubbock Goodfellows. Chief official notes more than 400 children daily may lack Christmas without aid. Donations totaling 435 dollars Friday afternoon welcome, with funds used to buy toys candy fruit and nuts for city children under 14 living within limits.
