Gold bullion surged with speculation of a dollar revaluation and hit a London high of 43 975 dollars per ounce, 3.5 cents above Aug last year. Zurich closed higher at 44 dollars per ounce, with a peak reached on Aug 9 prior to President Nixon's economic plan. In Paris the dollar also traded at new lows despite government exchange controls.
