Christmas tree quality may dip despite similar choice and price
An Associated Press survey finds Americans will have about the same number of Christmas trees to choose from and similar prices as last year. Quality may be down slightly due to last year’s heavy cut. Prices for a 5 to 6 foot balsam may run three to five dollars. Scotch pines gain popularity and may fetch higher prices amid tighter competition. Artificial trees impact disputed by AFPI officials, while wholesale orders fall about 20 percent from 1959.
