Deep Probes and Wells Planned in Chaves and Lea Counties

Oil and gas activity dominates the notice with planned wildcat wells in Roosevelt County near Milnes and Caprock in Lea County by Perry R. Bass and others. A Waterbearing drill and tests at Read & Stevens State wildcat near Caprock yield oil plus water, while a Draw Ur post tests gas flows at Carlsbad area. Texaco reports a new producer at Slaughter field in Hockley County with 31.8 gravity oil and 6,000 gallons acid stimulation.
