Sonny Bono urged creation of a national youth commission to bridge a growing generational divide. In testimony before a Democratic subcommittee in Chicago, the entertainer proposed a Washington based panel with two youth representatives from each state aged 18 to 26, similar pay to Peace Corps volunteers, and an unofficial youth lobby. He said entertainers influence youth and pledged to work toward engaging disenchanted youth.
Lubbock Commandery 60 Knights Templar hosts at 3 p m the annual district meeting of the Eight Capitular District of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas in Masonic Hall at 1207 Main St. About 150 commandery officers attend a workshop on Knights Templar College Student Educational Foundation Eye Foundation leadership membership public relations and patriotic acts.
