IRS policy denies tax exemptions to private schools with discriminatory admissions
The IRS described its plan as nationwide and not aimed at any specific region or state. Commissioner Randolph Thrower said the policy applies to all states and will deny exemptions to private schools with racially discriminatory admissions. The policy, in force since July 10, also removes deductibility for contributions to affected schools, with Mississippi cases under court order to suspend exemptions unless schools prove they do not discriminate.
