Dr. William Marvin Whyburn president elect of Texas Technological College will be formally inaugurated as chief executive in ceremonies set for Saturday September 30. A four pronged program includes an academic parade a speaking program an open house and a dinner in the new women’s dormitory with invitations sent to state officials colleges and universities in multiple states and possibly the War Department.

OPA Hearings Imposed Suspension Orders In West Texas
Hearings held in El Paso Big Spring and Lubbock led to suspension orders ranging from two weeks to the duration for gasoline fire and food rationing violations. A total of 25 cases were reviewed with 18 about gasoline, four about tires, and three about food regulations. The heaviest penalty was in Big Spring a gasoline dealer suspended for the full duration. William Barstow Killed in California Glider Crash
AC William S. Barstow, 24, former Lubbock resident, died in a glider crash at Ryan field near Hemet, California, on Thursday afternoon during a routine training flight. He lived in Paso, previously at Lubbock five years ago, and attended Lubbock High School, Texas A&M, and the Texas College of Mines in El Paso. Services expected in Albany Tuesday.
