OSHA case details show hefty fines for Gearhart-Owenn safety lapses
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration faces a hearing over proposed fines against Gearhart-Owenn for alleged violations at a Texas plant. The commission upheld some charges with maximums up to 10,000 dollars plus an extra 5,000 for serious violations. Officials cite uncapped safety failures amid a detonator jam incident that caused an explosion and near-fatal injuries. The plant reportedly faced shutdown risk if noncompliance continued, while one official defended munitions safety as a high priority in the state.
