McCarthyites Challenge Demo Delegations Seating
Nearly one fifth of Democratic National Convention delegates face challenges as the Credentials Committee weighs credentials for about 1000 delegates and alternates. The process, chaired by New Jersey Governor Richard Hughes, aims to ensure fair play amid questions of one person one vote loyalty pledges and racial and ethnic representation. Hearings begin August 19 in Chicago with a temporary convention roll used for initial seating.
