Birmingham Michigan residents faced mail disruption as 6 postal workers suspended for wearing Bermuda shorts in 84 degree heat. An additional 8 carried nonuniform attire, yielding incomplete service Friday and limited first class mail Saturday. Royal Oak carriers covered routes, but tempers ran high.

In fierce actions northwest of Saigon U S and South Vietnamese forces battled Viet Cong units along the Cambodian border. Casualties mounted with about 1 700 enemy killed in three days and 125 to 150 Americans dead as U S helicopter losses pushed total to 2 896.
State Sen. H. J. Doc Blanchard of Lubbock will serve as governor for a day while Gov. Preston Smith and Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes are out of state. A chartered plane will bring 70 supporters to Austin for a morning program including a prayer breakfast, as Blanchard leads a brief ceremonial tenure.
