Scientists warn on oil spills risking marine life and deep sea
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution scientists testified before a Senate subcommittee, warning offshore oil production and transport threaten ocean life and the food chain. They cited a Sept. 16, 1969 spill near West Falmouth, noting 93 percent of marine life died within three days and the polluted area expanded to thousands of acres.
