Tupamaros Free Uruguayan Judge After Abduction
In Montevideo on Friday night Tupamaros guerrillas released Criminal Court Judge Daniel Manelli after abducting him last Tuesday. The group said he was interrogated about court irregularities and accused a bribe offer from the CIA. They also held American Dan Mitrione and Brazilian diplomat Aloysio Dias Gomide. Mitrione was wounded in the abduction. The government declined immediate negotiation, calling the group criminals, while hinting at possible talks later.
