Senate acts to end airline strike for 30 days

The Senate approved a measure to force 35,400 striking airline mechanics back to work for 30 days and allow President Johnson to extend that period for up to six months. The bill passed 54 to 3 and moves to the House where action is uncertain. The measure differs from an earlier plan giving the President sole power to order a return to work.

State Meet Here DeMolays Hear U.S. Space Plans

About 1 450 DeMolays filled a Texas conclave in Lubbock to witness a space plans preview by Paul Haney of NASA Gemini control. Haney predicted a three man Apollo flight before Christmas and a moon landing in 1969. Awards were given to 16 Texans exemplifying DeMolay ideals.

Couple on tandem bicycle injured in Ave W crash

Leon Harris a 45 year old advertising partner and Ina Roy his 43 year old wife were seriously injured when their tandem bicycle was struck from behind by a car in the 2200 block of Ave W at about 9 40 p m Both were admitted to Methodist Hospital with Mrs Harris in poor condition and Harris listed as fair Witnesses said the Harris bicycle riding with Mr and Mrs Alton Strickland was hit while the other couple escaped injury.

Canadian Water Treatment Plant In Panhandle Area
