South Texas Hit By Storms Deaths and Damage
Tornadoes and high winds lashed South Central Texas late Thursday causing at least one death and numerous damages. In San Antonio a tornado was reported, a roof blown off, and hail as large as golf balls fell for about 15 minutes while radio stations went off air briefly. Corpus Christi saw damaged buildings near the University and several funnel clouds with power outages affecting about 8,000 homes. Rain totals reached 3 to 6.5 inches with flash flood warnings in several counties. Goliad reported 6.5 inches, OConnor ranch near Frio unofficially higher. Cypress reported a non touchdown funnel cloud with no damage. storms helped germinate crops but arrived too late to save much wheat and oats. Apollo 16 Casper crew safely returns from lunar mission
