Cave-In Traps Man in Home Cellar Rescue
A 35-year-old Lubbock man, Bill W. Whitener, was rescued after a cellar under his home caved in around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. He suffered a broken leg but remained conscious and in fair condition at Methodist Hospital. His daughter Kathie narrowly escaped injury, and neighbor Benny Short helped uncover Whitener as fire crews used a wire basket and ladder to reach him.
