United Methodist Church Formed In Historic Merger Rite

Dallas AP report describes the United Methodist Church formation as the largest Protestant merger in American history. About 10,000 joined hands in a ceremony at Dallas Memorial Auditorium as 11 million members from Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Church merged. The rite featured trumpet fanfare and a theology speech by Rev. Dr. Albert C. Cutler.

Voters Bewildered by Texas Governors Contest Talent Search

The 1968 Texas Democratic primary on May 4 features ten contenders nine men and one woman seeking the governorship. Among Republicans, three candidates compete in a limited field.
