Duke found unusual rocks in highland cratered terrain, surprising scientists on earth as the team climbed Cayley Plain and near Descartes. Reports say Thrust SMGON forces attacked Cho An Loe from four directions and pressed the defense in the provincial capital 69 miles north of Saigon. A convoy 1 mile north was shelled and a militia unit ambushed 13 miles northwest of Kontum. Two militiamen were killed and eight wounded as battalions were redeployed and reorganized in the highlands and Bien Hoa near Saigon.
