A surprise move by Billie Sol Estes defense staff delayed a final ruling on a new trial bid and possible freedom until Friday noon. The judge ordered production of correspondence between Hilbert Kreger Jr and Don Vinson after Vinson testified dates could be tied to Estes and Kreger. Closing arguments argued for a new trial while government lawyers urged no basis to alter the 15 year federal sentence.
