The Annual Home Show at Lubbock Coliseum opens today for a seven day run. Ninety four exhibitors fill the arena with displays of home furnishings appliances boats and more as visitors may win up to 500 in prizes during the event.
Lana Gay Burkett of Andrews County won the ninth annual Lubbock Avalanche Journal Spelling Bee at O L Staten Junior High School by spelling more than 100 rounds. She will compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington D C May 31 and June 1, with trips and meetings planned during the week.
