Regional Spelling Bee sets stage for champion today
The 21st annual Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Regional Spelling Bee will crown a champion at Smylie Wilson Junior High Auditorium. Twenty four spellers from West Texas and Lea County NM will compete after a 11:30 AM luncheon at Gridiron. The winner advances to the National Spelling Bee in June at the Mayflower Hotel Washington DC. Last year’s regional winner Robin Kral of Lamesa won the national title.
